Terms of Service
Last updated 11 July 2026
These terms
These terms apply when TankAway carries out waste removal work for you — emptying a cesspit or septic tank, servicing portable toilets or welfare units, cleaning a grease trap, or an emergency callout. By booking a job with us, you accept them.
TankAway is a family-run waste removal business covering the East of England. You can reach us at james@tankaway.co.uk or 07834 389 869.
Quotes and prices
- We give you a firm price before we move. That price is what you pay, provided the information you gave us was accurate and the site is as described.
- A quote is valid for 30 days unless we say otherwise.
- If we arrive and the job is materially different from what you described — the tank is substantially larger, the contents are not what was described, or the tanker cannot get within reach — we will stop, explain the position, and give you a revised price. We will not do extra work and bill you for it afterwards without telling you first.
Access to the site
Tankers are large vehicles and our hose has a finite reach. Before we arrive, please make sure that:
- There is a clear route for the tanker and somewhere for it to stand.
- The tank cover is locatable, and can be opened. If it is buried, sealed, or under a structure, tell us in advance.
- Any gates are unlocked and any animals are secured.
If we cannot reach or access the tank on the day, through no fault of ours, we may charge a callout fee to cover the wasted journey. We will always try to solve the problem on site before we do that.
Cancelling or rescheduling
- Cancel or move a booking with at least 24 hours' notice and there is no charge.
- Cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, or if nobody is there and we cannot get to the tank, and we may charge a callout fee.
- If we have to move your booking — a breakdown, weather, an emergency job — we will tell you as soon as we know and rebook at the earliest slot that suits you. We will not charge you for that.
- If you are a consumer and booked at a distance, you have the usual 14-day right to cancel. If you asked us to start work within that period and we have done so, we may charge for what we have already done.
Payment
Payment is due on completion unless we have agreed account terms with you in writing. We accept the payment methods we confirm at the time of booking. We may charge statutory interest on late payment of a commercial invoice.
The waste
- All waste we collect is taken to authorised disposal facilities.
- You get a waste transfer note on every visit. Keep it — under the duty of care it is your record as well as ours.
- You must tell us if the tank contains anything other than ordinary domestic or commercial waste water — chemicals, fuel, solvents, or clinical waste. We cannot lawfully carry those and we need to know beforehand.
Our work, and our liability
We will carry out the work with reasonable care and skill, as the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires. If something we do goes wrong, tell us and we will put it right.
We are responsible for loss or damage we cause by failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for problems we did not cause — for example, a pre-existing fault in your tank, pipework or soakaway, or damage to an unmarked private drain, cable or pipe on your land that you did not tell us about.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Complaints
If you are not happy with the work, contact us directly on 07834 389 869 or james@tankaway.co.uk. You will speak to the person who runs the business. We would always rather fix it than argue about it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
